On October 16, HireLayer detailed its dedicated AI resume screening API designed to help Applicant Tracking Systems embed transparent candidate scoring directly into their native interfaces. The service allows software providers to parse applications, evaluate candidates against specific job criteria, and rank up to 10 applicants in a single request while ensuring the final decision remains with a human recruiter.

Addressing the Explanation Gap in Hiring
Traditional keyword filters often discard qualified candidates who lack exact phrasing, while basic algorithmic scores fail when hiring managers demand reasons for a specific ranking. HireLayer resolves this by returning both a 0-to-1 score and a written rationale for every candidate evaluation. When a recruiter opens a specific profile, the system evaluates each job requirement individually, pointing directly to the supporting evidence found within the submitted document.
Technical Integration and Compliance
The architecture helps platforms prepare for upcoming regulations, such as the EU AI Act’s high-risk classification for recruitment algorithms taking effect in December 2027. Because the service provides per-criterion explanations and logs request identifiers, software vendors can easily document the mandatory human oversight and system usage records.
Developers can combine five distinct endpoints—including Job Extract, Rank, and Match—using a single key and shared credit balance. While the input text can be in various languages, the generated rationales and requirement summaries are currently produced in French. The platform includes a free monthly tier of 50 credits, allowing engineering teams to test the workflow using their existing application queues.
